Eckerd College is a national liberal arts college located where the Gulf of Mexico meets Tampa Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida. A residential undergraduate student body numbering comes from all 50 states and numerous foreign countries. Perhaps best known for its marine science, environmental studies, international relations and creative writing programs, Eckerd also has strong programs in the visual and performing arts as well as programs in film and interdisciplinary arts.

All courses and ensembles are open to students of every major and in fact non-majors are in a majority in nearly all of them. The Eckerd Concert Choir and the Eckerd Ringers tour nationally and internationally presenting a wide range of music types. In 2007, these groups toured China, performing with several Chinese university choirs. In 2009, the concert choir sang the Rutter Requiem at Carnegie Hall. There is also a wind ensemble, string chamber orchestra, jazz combo and world music improv group and private instruction on most instruments and voice. The Music at Eckerd Series features student and faculty programs and recitals by prominent guest performers. The Tampa Bay area has rich cultural offerings to complement those presented on campus and many opportunities for internships.
