The Bach Choir of Bethlehem celebrates its 106th Bethlehem Bach Festival. The Choir is joined by the Bach Festival Orchestra and world-renowned soloists in the performance of JS Bach Cantatas 71, 119, 180 and 197. The two-weekend festival culminates in a performance of Bach's Mass in B Minor. Saturday mornings features the Bach Festival Orchestra in performance with the Rioult Modern Dance Company. Additional pieces performed will include: Beethoven’s brilliant Choral Fantasy featuring Thomas Goeman as the virtuoso piano soloist. It includes variations on a theme that is an earlier version of the theme for “Ode to Joy” in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, and Morten Lauridson’s Lux Aeterna (Eternal Light). Distinguished Scholar Lecturer is Dr. Michael Marissen, Swarthmore College
