The village of Marlboro, which is 2 miles from the College, consists of a post office, a town clerk’s office, and an inn. About 1,200 residents live within the 36-square-mile township. During the summer, the village swells to accommodate the famous Marlboro Music Festival. The town of Brattleboro, 12 miles away, is a lively cultural and commercial center located on the first Vermont exit off Interstate 91. The College is 2 hours by car from Boston and 4 hours from New York City and Montreal.

Marlboro’s academic facilities offer small classrooms and oversized faculty offices for students to meet in small groups and individually with their professors. Facilities supporting student research and creative explorations include a DNA lab, a state-of-the-art black-and-white/digital darkroom, a digital film-editing studio, two pottery studios, and an astronomical observatory. Marlboro’s ongoing campus renewal project has, to date, doubled the size of the library and added a suite-style dorm. Construction has recently been completed on the Rudolf and Irene Serkin Performing Arts Center, which offers dedicated spaces for rehearsing and performing music, dance, and drama.
