Personal Statement
I'm passionate about music and have a strong desire to share this passion with others. My first priority is that lessons are inspiring and FUN. That is why my students often go home uplifted and enthusiastic about the cello and music-making. Student progress is a natural result of this enthusiasm and is never forced. Through my positive and perceptive teaching, each student receives a curriculum based on my UNIQUE relationship with that student and their needs. This is why I gladly accept students of ALL levels, from beginners to advanced, because for me it is about the music and affecting people through music. My skills as a pianist add another dimension to lessons as I can accompany anything with my sightreading ability. I teach the cello, but lessons are often about so much more. I make sure my students are not just good cello players, but good MUSIC players who understand theory and reading skills better as they progress. I also incorporate music appreciation into lessons, exposing students to our rich musical history in a way that supports and enhances their cello work. My easy going, friendly nature puts kids and beginners at ease. But my deep knowledge of cello technique and musicianship and my vast experience as a performer ensures that no student is too advanced for my teaching and guidance. Students end their time with me liking music more and being better people for it, that is my goal, and....o yea....your cello skills will not be too shabby either!
