Personal Statement
I believe that music lessons can, and should, do more than just teach a student to play an instrument. While of course that is a very important element, I believe that students should also gain other skills from studying music, such as increased confidence, creativity, problem-solving, and the ability to work with others. In my teaching, I try to nurture these characteristics through the study of music. I try to tailor my lessons to the individual student as much as possible -- both finding out what a specific student is interested in learning, and the right teaching/learning method for that student. I incorporate elements of different popular teaching styles (ex: Suzuki, Mark O'Connor) to come up with my own unique curriculum. I always try to make lessons fun and exciting, and I include some improvisation and composition along the way.
Education / Training
I completed my BM in viola performance at Oberlin Conservatory, while also completing a BA in Russian and East European Studies. I did some graduate studies at the New England Conservatory, and completed my MM in Contemporary Performance at the Manhattan School of Music. My primary teachers include Karen Ritscher, Martha Strongin Katz, and Nadia Sirota.

Throughout my studies, I took education courses such as: String Pedagogy, Advanced Teaching Techniques, and Arts and Education Training.

I am considering taking lessons. Please contact me with further information. Thank you.
