As a professional jazz (and Brazilian jazz) guitarist I have worked for 30 years in the New York City scene and toured the US, Europe and Japan, as well as performances in Canada, Brazil and Argentina. I toured and recorded for many years with both Jon Hendricks and Andy Bey, two of the greatest jazz singers ever. I have recorded a number of critically acclaimed CDs of my own, including four solo guitar CDs, as well as appearing as a sideman on many other jazz and Brazilian CDs. I bring all of that experience and knowledge to my teaching and have been on the faculty at William Patterson for 24 years, and at New Jersey City University for 18 years, teaching private jazz guitar lessons, coaching ensembles and teaching jazz improvisation classes.
I have the ability to clearly explain and clarify the concepts and techniques that help students understand the music itself, the process of visualizing the guitar fingerboard and the improvisational concepts they need to work on to develop quickly and thoroughly. .
