Personal Statement
I am experienced with teaching students of all levels and abilities, including adult beginners. We will work together to come up with a lesson plan that is custom tailored to meet your specific needs, my goal is to help you grow and be the best musician you can be. I offer a free trial first lesson so that you can decide if my teaching style is right for you.

Students may have the opportunity to participate in small ensemble and flute choir.

I only accept beginning level oboe students.
Education / Training
Sheila Hornberger studied flute performance at
Mansfield University with Dr. Angela McBrearty
and Dr. Dana Tan. A native of the Williamsport
area, she is the founder and director of the
Williamsport Flute Choir.

Being committed to community music, she has performed with several local ensembles since
high school, including but not limited to: the Repasz Band, the Imperial Teteques Band, the
Jersey Shore Town Band, the Milton Band, and the Williamsport Civic Choir. Sheila founded the
Williamsport Flute Choir in January of 2013 to provide a small ensemble opportunity for local

Sheila maintains a small studio based out of the Pajama Factory, an historic factory
complex converted into an artistic community, which was used as a model for the
1950s play and movie, The Pajama Game.

Currently, Sheila plays flute with the Scottish Rite Imperial Teteques band and the Penn
Central Wind Band. She has been a featured guest soloist with various ensembles, and has
performed throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Most recently, she has performed on a
masterclass with renowned flutist and composer, Gary Schocker. She is an active member
of the Pocono Flute Society and the National Flute Association.

Aside from flute, Sheila is an oboist with the Repasz Band as well as the IT Woodwind
Quintet, and enjoys classic cars, travelling, and wine tours. She resides in South Williamsport
with her rat terrier/chihuahua mix, Marzipan.
