Personal Statement
As a harp teacher, it is my goal to encourage, support, and develop my students' musical talents and interests. I believe this is best accomplished through individual attention, and I tailor my program to match each student's background and needs. My curriculum includes private harp lessons as well as opportunities to participate in a variety of events, including regular harp recitals, our annual holiday concert, theory classes, master classes, guest harpist performances, harp ensembles, and the London Royal School of Music exams.

I have found great joy in the harp, and I look forward to the opportunity to share the delights of this beautiful instrument with you.
Education / Training
Stephanie Janowski is an experienced professional harpist who plays and teaches throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, performing at weddings, receptions, and private parties. She plays a busy schedule of concerts and recitals, including the annual Harpeggio Music “Harps for the Holidays” Concert, as well as in concert with local ensembles such as the San Jose Wind Symphony, where she is resident harpist. She played regularly for Sunday brunch at the Crowne Plaza in Milpitas and at the San Jose Hilton. Stephanie is co-founder of Harpeggio Music, and was previously on the faculty of the Schlomovitz-Quinn Harp Studios. In addition to the harp, Stephanie has played the piano and french horn for over 30 years, and is a member of the Saratoga Community band.

Stephanie began her harp studies with Renee Quinn and Phyllis Schlomovitz, formerly principal harpist of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. She is continuing her musical education with Paul Hurst, who was a guest artist at the 1999 World Harp Congress in Prague, and at the International Harp Festival in Soka, Japan. On her visits to England, Stephanie studies with David Watkins, former principal harpist of the London Philharmonic. Stephanie has also continued to extend her knowledge of music theory and history through two years of college-level study.

Stephanie's non-musical background includes a B.A. in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from the University of California, San Diego, and a M.S. and PhD in Operations Research from Stanford University. She was a software engineer for 18 years, 14 of which were spent at Hewlett-Packard. After many years in the high-tech industry, Stephanie decided to pursue her real love – the harp.
