Personal Statement
For 30 years, I have studied 18th and 19th century secular dance music and song of Europe and the UK.  As a musicologist and historian, I am very interested in how these styles of music influenced American music and American culture.  I use this as a basis for The Sweet Method, which is what I call the pedagogy I use to teach students.
Education / Training
I have a BA in Ethnomusicology and certifications in violin and performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music and Hampshire College.  I graduated in 1985 and opened the Sweet Music Studio in 1986.
Adam R Sweet is a musician, educator and scholar.  He teaches fiddle and mandolin, is an expert in traditional wedding music, studies and teaches Americana, Celtic and Klezmer music, and enjoys playing for Irish Dancing.
