Personal Statement
I offer lessons on harpsichord with emphasis on historically informed keyboard practices. These I have learned by training at conservatories in the US and the Netherlands; several of my teachers were well-known, including harpsichordist Gustav Leonhardt.

Compositions by William Byrd, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Francois Couperin, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, Domenico Scarlatti, Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and others may be coached in the lessons. The students are encouraged to bring pieces they would like to learn, as well as the pieces recommended by me for steady progression through technical and musical mastery, with a broad selection from different music historic eras, and national styles. Tuning different temperaments and simple maintenance procedures of harpsichords is also taught, as well as how to accompany from a 'figured bass', learning to improvise the correct harmonies and supporting passages.

I also teach piano with popular graded courses such as by Michael Aaron, Alfred, and Bastien. The aim is to inspire a lifelong love of music and music-making, often joining the student in playing 4-handed pieces. More advanced students are coached in literature from the Baroque, Romantic, and Modern periods.

Students who have already obtained at least intermediate keyboard proficiency, may also take organ lessons with me. The many additional aspects of organ playing are taught, such as legato style, finger substitution, pedal playing, crescendo/decrescendo with swell boxes, registration, piston changes, etc. Hymn playing and choir accompaniment as well as solo literature suitable for preludes/postludes are taught with the aim of being able to play for church services. Music from early time periods will be taught with historically informed keyboard practices in mind, to give technically as well as musically authentic interpretation.

David Clark Little was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA. At an early age he began organ and piano lessons. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Penn State University as a multiple Dean's-List honored student. He studied Organ, Harpsichord and Composition at West Chester State University, PA; and in the Netherlands, at the conservatories of Hilversum, Amsterdam, and Utrecht. Among his teachers were several well-known performers, including harpsichordist Gustav Leonhardt, and organist Keith Chapman. Several of his compositions have received prizes, honorable mentions, or were finalists in international competitions; and have been performed and broadcast all over the world. He has been given commissions for compositional work and several grants to perform his work and to attend festivals and workshops abroad. His compositions are published by Donemus Publishing, the Netherlands. He has performed widely solo, and in ensembles such as Tactus Baroque Ensemble, The Academy conducted by Frans Brüggen, The Netherlands Vocal Ensemble conducted by Rudolf Grasman, The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra under Lev Markiz, and La Fiocco led by Lewis Baratz; in the USA, the Netherlands, France, and Indonesia. Currently he teaches organ, harpsichord & piano. Running a private studio, he produces CDs with the Adnarim label. Among these are his performances of harpsichord Sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti; and his own arrangement of the Goldberg Variations by Johann Sebastian Bach.
