Personal Statement
I think everyone should have a chance to learn an instrument. I teach flute/piccolo lessons to all ability levels. I've played the flute professionally as well as have a BM in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Utah. Your tuition includes weekly lesson and a bi-monthly group class. I teach fundamentals, theory, composition, tuning, blending, technique, breathing, standard and new repertoire, listening, music appreciation, music history, etc. Lessons are fun and up-beat.

I also teach beginning clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, and piano. Tuition is $80 a month.
Education / Training
I've been playing the flute 18 years and have been teaching for the past 13 years. I've taught many flutists from young-old, beginning-advanced, male and female, and I even recently taught a Japanese student who didn't speak any English! I grew up in Logan, Utah where I went to High School and studied with Leslie Timmons from Utah State University. While in Logan I also played in a High School flute choir, in the University flute choir (when they needed extra help), and in the Cache Chamber Symphony.

I then moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah and studied flute with Susan Goodfellow (who studied under Julius Baker and William Kincaid). I also studied conducting with Scott Hagen and Robert Baldwin on my way to receiving my Instrumental Music Education Degree. While in Salt Lake I helped found and run the University of Utah runnin' flUTES flute choir (I was even able to arrange a bunch of music for the choir as well as a piece we performed at the National Flute Convention). I participated in the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, Marching Band, Pep Band, and New Music Ensemble. I also had the opportunity to play in the Olympic Spirit Band for the 2002 Winter Olympics, sub for the Orchestra at Temple Square, and (most recently) play with the newly formed professional Utah Wind Symphony.

I love music and especially teaching music. As well as teaching private lessons on flute, piccolo, trumpet, and clarinet, I also taught elementary music for 2 years and started a band/orchestra at our school.

I am considering taking lessons. Please contact me with further information. Thank you.
