Personal Statement
My name is Shannon McSwain and I am a classically trained piano teacher, with over 20 years of music experience. I excelled at performing all genres from Bach to Mozart to Chopin to Gershwin. In my high school years I regularly attended competitions conducted by local and national Associations of Music Clubs, and took master classes with famous pianists such as Walter Hautzig. I attended the University of North Carolina and obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance and International Studies. After graduating, I went to Clemson Montessori School and received my Montessori teaching certificate from the American Montessori Society and I have been teaching 3-6 year olds for the past six years.
I have now taught privately for about eight years, during that time I have worked with students of different levels and ages. I have a special connection with and approach to young performers. In my lessons, students have fun, learn about the composers, and acquire technique and artistic expression in an interactive manner.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you and beginning our musical journey!

I am considering taking lessons. Please contact me with further information. Thank you.
