Personal Statement

Teaches in several locations in the Philadelphia area including Center City and University City Studios!

I'm happy to work with students of all ages and levels beginning as young as six years of age. I have taught students from a wide variety of backgrounds including visually and aurally impaired students, students for whom English is a second language and students with learning disabilities. I'm pleased to have helped students achieve a range of musical goals including preparing for performances and recitals, ensemble auditions, college entrance auditions and more.

Beginning students only need an acoustic guitar and a tuning device such as a pitch pipe or electric guitar tuner for their first lessons. In their lessons, students will be introduced to music fundamentals such as note reading that we can apply to any musical instrument. However, I also believe that every guitar student can benefit from exploring the wide variety of musical styles in which the guitar plays a role, so I always encourage my students to learn techniques including strumming chords along with songs in folk, rock, jazz and other popular styles as well as flat picking, improvisation and song writing.
