Mission Statement

The mission of The University of Montana Western’s music program is to provide knowledgeable, skillful vocal and instrumental music teachers for students in all schools, K-12; to provide music instruction and participation opportunities as a part of a liberal education at the university; and to provide community music-making opportunities for people of all ages.

Core Values

*Public school music teachers must be competent musicians.

*Teachers, students, and other community members must engage in discussions concerning the materials and practice of music education in a democratic society.
