Personal Statement
I offer lessons on harpsichord with emphasis on historically informed keyboard practices. These I have learned by training at conservatories in the US and the Netherlands; several of my teachers were well-known, including harpsichordist Gustav Leonhardt.

Compositions by William Byrd, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Francois Couperin, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, Domenico Scarlatti, Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and others may be coached in the lessons. The students are encouraged to bring pieces they would like to learn, as well as the pieces recommended by me for steady progression through technical and musical mastery, with a broad selection from different music historic eras, and national styles. Tuning different temperaments and simple maintenance procedures of harpsichords is also taught, as well as how to accompany from a 'figured bass', learning to improvise the correct harmonies and supporting passages.

I also teach piano with popular graded courses such as by Michael Aaron, Alfred, and Bastien. The aim is to inspire a lifelong love of music and music-making, often joining the student in playing 4-handed pieces. More advanced students are coached in literature from the Baroque, Romantic, and Modern periods.

Students who have already obtained at least intermediate keyboard proficiency, may also take organ lessons with me. The many additional aspects of organ playing are taught, such as legato style, finger substitution, pedal playing, crescendo/decrescendo with swell boxes, registration, piston changes, etc. Hymn playing and choir accompaniment as well as solo literature suitable for preludes/postludes are taught with the aim of being able to play for church services. Music from early time periods will be taught with historically informed keyboard practices in mind, to give technically as well as musically authentic interpretation.

Among his teachers were several well-known performers, including harpsichordist Gustav Leonhardt, and organist Keith Chapman. Several of his compositions have received prizes, honorable mentions, or were finalists in international competitions; and have been performed and broadcast all over the world.
