The Community Music School of the North Carolina School of the Arts (CMS) offers music instruction for all ages in all band and orchestral instruments, voice, piano, keyboard, organ, guitar, banjo, mandolin, lap dulcimer, and harmonica to students in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County and the surrounding region. In addition to private lessons, taught by highly qualified specialist teachers, CMS offers Suzuki instruction for violin and guitar and group voice classes for adults and youth, as well as theory, ear training, sight-reading, and early childhood music classes (birth to three years) designed to respond to the instructional needs of the community. Located in downtown Winston-Salem, the school now enrolls over 400 students.
