The Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College (CUNY) is among New York
City's leading institutions in the training of musicians and music
educators. Students study with a distinguished faculty of prominent
performers, composers, musicologists, theorists, and music-education
specialists, in addition to a prestigious roster of guest artists.
The Conservatory sponsors over 150 performances a year, including chorus
and chamber chorus, opera workshop, opera theater, orchestra, brass
ensemble, woodwind ensemble, contemporary music, jazz, percussion
ensemble and various chamber ensembles. We maintain an extensive
schedule of guest artists, drawing not only on the huge pool of artists
native to New York City, but from around the globe. In addition to
rigorous training in music, all Conservatory students are encouraged to
explore the College's rich offerings in the liberal arts and sciences
and to work with artists and scholars in film and video, theater,
television and radio, and other fields.
Qualified students may also obtain New York State teaching
certification in music (K-12).
We pride ourselves on our diverse student body, attracting students from
all over the world. Challenge and opportunity, academic and artistic
excellence - these are the qualities that mark the essence of the
Conservatory of Music.
