The purposes of the Department of Music are to train students who intend to pursue careers in music; provide instruction in traditional music curriculum areas; and offer courses and an on-campus atmosphere which broaden the cultural experiences of the University community. The Department is interested in assisting students who wish to explore the many new occupational options open to students of music and music related subjects.
Participation in the University Choir (Philharmonic Society); University Marching Panthers and Symphonic Band, Jazz Orchestra, and Handbell Ensemble is available to all University students. Membership in these ensembles, however, is by audition only.
