There are almost 400 music majors in the School of Music, including 110 graduate students. The 39 faculty members are recognized for excellence in teaching, performance, and research. Within their disciplines they are leaders in the community and region, and across the United States. With a low faculty-to-student ratio, the School of Music provides personal attention with small classes and excellent private applied instruction.

The UK School of Music is one of 10 designated Areas of Excellence within the University for its outstanding programs. The School has achieved awards and national recognition for high-caliber education in opera, choral and instrumental music performance, as well as for music education, composition, theory and music history. Our faculty has gained national and international prominence in their respective fields.
